Steel is the most recycled material on the planet.  Seventy percent of all steel used in the United States comes from recycled sources.  In recent years, steel making technology improvements have allowed steel companies to provide continuous cast shapes, which have lowered production costs and increased yields, while taking advantage of the recycled steel.  This technology includes a deoxidizing process which makes the steel shapes highly reactive in a zinc bath.

GalvXtra, a field tested proprietary formulation of molten metals, combats this aggressive reaction in the zinc bath, producing a more uniform coating.

AZZ’s GalvXtra process is environmentally friendly, emitting no volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) or hazardous air pollutions (HAP’s) into the atmosphere.  Galvanized steel contributes points toward LEED®  certification under several categories, including recycled content, since it is 100% recyclable.

GalvXtra meets all the requirements set forth in ASTM A123, ASTM A153 and ASTM B6 providing high quality zinc coatings on ferrous materials.

All AZZ Galvanizing plants adhere to a well defined standard operating procedure, which produces uniform GalvXtra coatings.
